Congradulations to coaches Guy Marcoux Sr and Guy Marcoux Jr and all of the Bantam A team members on winning the 2008 Labor Day Tournament in Ellenton this year.
The team was 5 and 0 throughout the tournament, beating the Flames (4-0), Raiders (4-0), Jr. Bulls (4-0) and Palm Beach Predators (4-2). then beating the Predators in a come from behind win with 2 minutes left (5-4) in the Championship Game.
Eric Klausner was named the Tournaments MVP.
UPDATE - October 30, 2008
A few weeks ago, a couple of teams from Ellenton were added into the mix along with the eight teams of the Western Conference of the Lightning Division. So the schedule has been revised and some games are now being played in Ellenton as well as at TBSA.
This year TBJL/CIA has one team. The name this year is South Pinellas and it is composed of players who attend high schools in Pinellas County south of State Road 60 ( Gulf To Bay Blvd. ). Les Page is the head coach.

On March 28, the
Mississippi Sea Wolves
of the ECHL signed John Hallas who completed his college career at St Lawrence University. The Sea Wolves are affiliated with the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
John was in goal for a couple of games filling in due to an injury and a callup. He made 10 saves in 27 minutes, didn't give up a goal and was credited with a win when he came into the third period with his team behind 5 - 2. His ECHL stats for the team are online.
A news item has also been posted to the Lightning web site .
A few days ago, he signed with the Bakersfield Condors as an emergency backup for the playoffs. Read the Press Release for more information.

Ryan Dyer, Steve Shlemon and Pat Trizis made the Florida Chicago Showcase team. All three play for the Tampa-Pinellas Combined HS team which is part of TBJL. The Chicago Showcase is a high school ice hockey tournament for state-wide all star teams which takes place from April 15 - 19 in Bensenville, IL. This event is attended by numerous college, junior and professional scouts. Some of the past players from our high school teams who have participated in this tournament or tryied out for the team and ended up in juniors or playing college hockey including John Hallas (St Lawrence University 2004 - 2008), Guy Marcoux (Cincinnati Cyclones 2006-2007 and Cajun Catahoulas 2007-2008) and Adam Petsche (Cincinnati Cyclones 2006-2007 and Eastern Michigan University 2007-2008). All three have been featured in the "Where Are They Now?" portion of this web site.

John Hallas made his second start of the ECAC season against previously undefeated Princeton on Friday, November 9, made 31 saves and got a 4 - 3 win for his St Lawrence University team. This was the Saint's first win in league competition for the new season. John is now 2 - 0 this year.
John is competing with three other goalies for ice time this season. See the article on the ECAC Hockey web site.

A few weeks ago, John was featured in the inaugural "Where Are They Now?" entry on the web site (scroll down to see it). John is a TBJL alumnus.
In only the second start of his collegiate career, John earned a shutout against Union College this past week.
John was also named one of the ECAC Players of the Week for his performance.

Congradulations to coach Darren Whiffen and the TBJL Squirt AA team on winning the Congressional Cup in mid February. This tournament was held in Reston, VA.

The TBJL Pee Wee AA team won the International A/E Silver Stick Tournament held from January 11 through 15 in Pelham, Ontario in Canada. In past years, only two TBJL teams have advanced out of a southeast regional tournament to the Silver Sticks Finals - the 1996/1997 Midgets and the 2000-2001 Bantmas. However, neither team won the finals.
The TBJL Pee Wee team beat the Sylvania Maple Leafs 8 - 1, the host Pelham Panthers 12 - 0, the New York City Cyclones 3 - 2 and the East Gwillimbury Eagles 5 - 4 in the preliminary round. The Pee Wees then defeated the Brampton Battalion 4 - 1 in the semi finals and the Oakville Rangers 3 - 2 in the finals.
